The Foxbrush Barn project in Kent features a full glass extension that links two separate buildings, creating a seamless connection between the old and new structures. Incorporating glass hinged doors, structural glazing, and glass beams, this design floods the interior with natural light and creates an open, modern feel while maintaining the barn’s traditional character.
The centrepiece of this project is the full glass extension, designed to merge two buildings into a cohesive whole. Structural glazing and glass beams were used to provide the necessary support without compromising the minimalist aesthetic. The extension allows for unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside, enhancing the connection to nature while maintaining a clean, contemporary look. The transparency of the glass contrasts beautifully with the barn’s more traditional architectural elements, bringing a modern edge to the historic structure.
Hinged glass doors were installed to ensure seamless access between the extension and the outdoor space, while also contributing to the sleek, frameless design. The combination of structural glazing and glass beams allows for large glass surfaces that maximise natural light throughout the barn. This project not only bridges the two buildings but also offers a bright, airy living space that balances modern design with the rustic charm of Foxbrush Barn.
